The first day of the new year. I was laying in bed…waking up. I could sense the Holy Spirit drawing me like a magnet, a gentle magnet, wooing me to my prayer closet. I sat up in bed and whispered, “I am coming.”
I got out of bed, wrapped my bathrobe around me and walked to my prayer closet. My Bible––the sWORD of God was waiting for me…and so was God––I wrote in my journal:
What is the best gift we can give our children in 2018? _________ ; the enemy does not want us to give this gift.
It will not be easy for you and me; the enemy does not want us to give this gift.
It’s going to cost you and me; the enemy does not want us to give this gift.
It will involve your and my heart and soul; the enemy does not want us to give this gift.
It will involve your and my time; the enemy does not want us to give this gift.
It will involve your and my life; the enemy does not want us to give this gift.
It will impact your and my children’s (grandchildren’s) lives; the enemy does not want that to happen.
It will impact your and my lives; the enemy does not want that to happen.
Right now Jesus is giving you and me this gift; the enemy cannot stop Him!
What is the gift Jesus is giving you and me right now? PRAYER! (Hebrews 7:25); the enemy cannot stop Him.
Jesus gave His life, His all, HIS PRAYERS and He whispers and ROARS to me, “Rhonda, you are worth it. RHONDA, YOU ARE WORTH IT!” The enemy cannot stop Me!
I echo Jesus whispers and ROARS to my family, “Family, you are worth it. I give you my prayers! FAMILY––EACH ONE OF YOU––IS WORTH IT! I GIVE YOU MY PRAYERS!” The enemy cannot stop me!
Christ gives me strength! “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).
The Spirit lives in me! “…the Spirit who lives in me is greater than the spirit who lives in the world” (1 John 4:4b).

Let us join Jesus in 2018 in PRAYER! Our prayers are powerful! “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16b).

THE VERSE THE LORD IMPRESSED UPON MY HEART FOR 2018 IS JOSHUA 1:9, “This is My command––be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Those words are “marching orders” to Joshua…along with a beautiful promise. It’s easy for me to forget––that I’m/that we’re––in a battle. It’s right there is God’s Word. Sure…the WAR is won but the battles continue.
We read in 1 Peter 5:8 another command…to you and to me, “Be alert and sober minded. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” I am not afraid, but I am definitely starting out the New Year sober minded.
