Seeds of the Gospel

Rhonda and I were sitting in a coffee shop when a gentleman came over to our table, held out his hand and showed us a pinecone.

He went on to explain that these pinecone seeds are from a Sequoia (Redwood) Tree. He asked us if we’d like to have the seeds to plant in our yard. We declined his offer since we have no room for a huge Sequoia to grow in the yard.

Rhonda asked him, “Why don’t we see more Redwood Trees in Washington State?”

The man responded, “Because not many people plant them.”

This pinecone is about the same size as the Sequoia pinecone seeds that the man showed Rhonda and me.

I got to thinking about his comment as it relates to the Deaf harvest field.  I started thinking about why there are not more Deaf people coming to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  The answer–because there are not enough people planting the seeds of the Gospel.

“How can people have faith in the Lord and ask Him to save them, if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear, unless someone tells them?” (Romans 10:14, CEV).

It grieves my heart to see that there is still many millions of Deaf  people who do not know Jesus, just because no one has “planted the seeds of the Gospel” for them to know about the free gift of eternal life.

In Matthew 9:37-38 we read, “He [Jesus] said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few.  So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.”

James 4:2b reads, “You have not because you ask not.” Lord we are asking!

The Holy Spirit is stirring my heart and soul to be more bold and courageous as we share the Gospel of Jesus in the Deaf harvest field.

And I’m asking you to join with Rhonda and me, and the DMW team in asking/praying that, indeed, God would raise up more workers into the Deaf harvest field so that many more Deaf would come to the Lord this year.

PLEASE PRAY that there would be much fruit from the seeds that are planted in this very fertile soil.

PLEASE PRAY, too, about supporting this ministry and helping us on this journey to plant more seeds…to see a great harvest of Deaf souls saved! We cannot do this alone. Since the beginning of the ministry in 1989, God has touched the hearts of others to partner with us in the Deaf harvest field. Through your prayers and financial support–you can be a huge part of what God is doing–as we plant more seeds and God gives the increase! Your prayers and gifts to this ministry can impact the lives of Deaf people for eternity!
