The path of a child-where will it lead?

One of my greatest joys in life is praying for my children and grandchildren.

Another one, especially since this will be my last Precious in HIS Sight blog, is to encourage you ONE MORE TIME to pray. I beseech YOU–parents and grandparents–pray for your children and grandchildren.

In Matthew 19:13-15–only three verses–yet these words reach down into the deepest depths of my soul.

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so He could lay His hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering Him.

But Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.’  And He placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before He left.”

Closing my eyes, imagining ME.THERE.THAT.DAY two thousand plus years ago, Mama holds my hand as we join a group of parents bringing their children to the kindest Man I’ve ever seen. His glowing eyes and my little brown eyes lock. He is full of love or maybe He IS love. Reaching out Jesus gathers me and the other children to Himself. For a few minutes I’m translated to another world as the world around me becomes a blur. I’M.JUST.FOCUSED.ON.HIM. His smile fills my heart with joy. Placing His hand upon my head, I’m sure I heard Him call me, “Precious!”

Forty-one years ago an encounter with Jesus changed my life forever and continues to change my forever life.

As parents and grandparents God can use us–even as imperfect as we are–in ways that our children and grandchildren encounter Jesus. He can use us in ways that help set their feet on a path that follows Jesus. It doesn’t mean their path will always be smooth; it does mean that by God’s grace and faithfulness our children and grandchildren will know the assurance that Jesus is with them. Just as we know Jesus is with us when we experience hard rocky paths.

BRINGING OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN TO JESUS

Bring your children and grandchildren to Jesus as you read the Holy Scriptures to them and help them read and memorize His eternal Words of life.

Bring your children to Jesus as you pray with them and teach them to pray.

Bring your children to Jesus by taking them to Sunday School, Church, Vacation Bible School, etc.

As  you eat your meals–daily bread–around the table and thank God for His provision, take the opportunity to share a verse from the “Eternal Daily Bread”– HIS HOLY BIBLE–and thank God for His provision.

Compelling and convicting are the God Words I read in 1 Samuel 12:23, “As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you (my children and grandchildren). And I will teach you the way that is good and right” (1 Samuel 12:23).

Parents and grandparents, our children and grandchildren have eternal souls! Ponder that! Think about the weightiness of our responsibility. ETERNAL SOULS!

Be greatly encouraged! God’s Word declares, “The prayer of a righteous person (mom or dad, grandma or grandpa) is powerful and effective” James 5:16b.  HALLELUJAH!

PreciousInHisSightApril2019 docxThrough the years the monthly Precious in HIS Sight Prayer Calendar has helped me faithfully pray for my loved ones. Click on the Calendar and it opens enlarged in a new window making it easy to read the Bible references. Look up the scripture for the day and turn God’s Word into prayers.

I will continue praying for my family in May and beyond, and I encourage you to join me daily as we open your Bible, looking up scriptures (I suggest you start in Psalms) and find Bible verses that you can turn into powerful scripture prayers for your loved ones.

Although this is my last Precious in HIS Sight, I sense the Lord Jesus leading me on an exciting journey in the months and years ahead. As He leads me in this adventure, I will keep you posted through social media and email. I would appreciate your prayers!

ONE OTHER THING

Bring your children to Jesus every opportunity you have (see Deuteronomy 11:18-19). The Holy Spirit will lead you, showing you His ways, be sensitive to His still small voice.

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE PATH YOUR CHILD, TEEN OR ADULT CHILD WALKS!  PRAY!

BE SURE TO ATTEND CHURCH EASTER AND CELEBRATE!

JESUS IS RISEN!

JESUS IS RISEN INDEED!
