Exciting News! January 2019, we are relocating the ministry back to Oklahoma–where Deaf Ministries Worldwide (DMW) began.God’s timing is amazing; 2019 IS THE 30th ANNIVERSARY YEAR OF DMW! Rhonda and I would appreciate your prayers and generous support.
It will cost approximately $10,000 to complete this move. For a large hearing ministry $10,000 isn’t much. However, for DMW, the majority of our support comes from Deaf people who are truly giving sacrificially. The rest of the support comes from hearing people who share our burden and love to reach Deaf people with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
As this milestone-year of the ministry approaches, I think back to December 5, 1980–the day I became deaf. It was a devastating time for Rhonda, my wife, and me. We were 27 years old and had two sons–Rex was 4 years old and Luke was 8 months old. We had only been Christians for two years.
We could not have begun to imagine all that would take place from that day to today. God in His sovereignty and true to His Word had good plans! God called me into Deaf ministry; I graduated from Bible College and became the pastor of two Deaf churches.
In 1989, God led us to Oklahoma where Deaf Ministries Worldwide was established. After 23 years in Oklahoma, God–being omniscient–knew all the reasons why He would uproot us and lead us on a journey from Oklahoma…to Florida…to Washington State and now…back to Oklahoma—where it all began.
Each time God has called us to relocate, even when we didn’t fully understand why, we have said, “Yes, Lord” and moved forward into the unknown. It was enough knowing God was with us, and He is faithful!
Looking back, we know some of the reasons for this journey. If we had stayed in Oklahoma “The Bible Belt” there are many things that we would not have experienced and learned. By living from one end of the USA to the other, we have seen the condition of the church and the fierce battle for Deaf souls raging.
While we do sense the urgency of Jesus’ words in John 9:4, “We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work”. . . We are encouraged by Jesus’ promise in Matthew 16:18b, “I will build My church (includes Deaf church) and the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church.” Jesus has kept that promise to us since 1989 when this ministry began.
* We rejoice with all Heaven for each soul He has saved; there are more souls to be saved.
* We’ve had the joy of giving away hundreds of thousands of “Gospel Bags” each filled with an easy-to-read New Testament Bible, Visual Gospel Presentation on DVD, and tracts to Deaf men, women, and children in American and in over 70 countries. Thousands of Deaf people have come to know Jesus as a result of receiving Gospel Bags.
* We thank God for each pastor, missionary, co-worker and their spouse who has been encouraged and refreshed through our hospitality ministry known as the Shalom Lighthouse Retreat Center. Hundreds of weary pastors have stayed with us at no cost to them. We have had the opportunity to minister to, and pray with, these precious laborers in Deaf ministry. We have seen lives changed, marriages changed, families changed, and churches changed. Many who have spent time with us at the Retreat Center were ready to quit the ministry, but God touched them and gave them a new vision to return home and fulfill His call on their lives.
* We thank God for touching and changing people’s lives as we’ve taught and preached His Word; there are more people needing to receive the life-changing message of God’s Word.
With praise and thanksgiving we rejoice in all God has done, and we rejoice all the more in His plans for this ministry in the years to come.

P.S. On a more personal note, Rhonda and I recently turned 65. Both our sons, their wives and our six grandchildren live in Oklahoma. We thank God that He is leading us back home where we began this ministry and giving us the blessing of being near our family again. Family means so much to us. God is fulfilling the desires of our hearts to be near our precious family. God is faithfully good.
