Precious in HIS Sight

Precious in HIS Sight

by Rhonda Barrett ~

Dear Friend,

What do you want in 2017? This is the question I asked myself sitting at a table in Downtown Seattle at Storyville Cafe, Pike Place Market. I opened my laptop, took a sip of coffee and began typing.

Friend, I open my heart to you–as I open my heart to my Lord Jesus–and share what I want in 2017…

Welcome to my Storyville Cafe prayer closet.

HAPPY NEW YEAR from Storyville Cafe at the Pike Place Market, Downtown Seattle. I’m praying that 2017 is a great year for you as you go deeper with Our Father!

Lord, I hunger and thirst for You.

Lord, I hunger and thirst for Your Word.

Lord, I want You to teach me to pray!

In 2017, I want to spend more time with You…becoming more like You, Jesus.

Lord, teach me to pray! Lord, will you teach me to pray?

And the Lord responds to me as He responded in His Word over 2,000 years ago (Luke 11, Matthew 6)…

“This, then, is how you should pray:

‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be Your Name.

Your Kingdom come,

Your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts (sins),

as we also have forgiven our debtors

(those who have sinned against us).

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one,

for Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’”

Beautiful words!

Holy Name

Convicting words!

Your Kingdom–not my kingdom

Your will–not my will.

Content with bread for today

Forgive me as…I…forgive…others

Powerful words!

Evil one

Do we dare pray such a prayer? YES!

Can we dare LIVE such a prayer? YES!

Friends, we are surrounded by a huge group of people watching us…including our loved ones. Let us run with perseverance the race that the Lord has set before us. Let us throw off every weight that slows us down, and every sin that trips us up, keeping our eyes on Jesus–the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Keeping our eyes on Jesus…can you “see” Him? Do you know what Jesus is doing right now? Jesus is at the right hand of God the Father interceding, praying (Romans 8:34). He is our example, so let us boldly approach the throne of grace…and pray.

I love praying over my loved ones. Our families need our prayers now more than ever!

Many years ago, I made the Precious In HIS Sight Scripture Prayer Calendar as a tool to help me faithfully pray for my family. I still use the Calendar. To the left is this month’s Calendar. Isn’t it beautiful? My dear friend, Marva Gehm, makes the Calendar each month.

Click on the Calendar and it opens in another window-enlarged–so you can easily read the Bible references. There is a Bible reference for each day of the month. Find the verse-for-the-day and look it up in your Bible; then turn the verse into a prayer.

I print the Calendar and keep it with my Bible. I encourage you to do that too.

Precious parent, let us boldly pray God’s word over our loved ones; our prayers are powerful; it says so in James 5:16b, “The prayers of a righteous person (mom and dad; grandma and grandpa; uncle and aunt; cousin; friend–that means your prayers!) are powerful and effective.”

As I start this New Year with you, my friend, let us surrender to Jesus afresh and pray–Your will be done in my life as it is in heaven…for Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen!

I pray that 2017 will be a great year for you

as you go deeper with Our Father!

Gary shares, “As we begin our 28th year in ministry, we are excited and thankful to God for His great plans and the doors that He is opening in the Deaf harvest field in 2017.

I believe the Deaf are the most unreached people group in the world…they are the least, the lost, the last to ‘hear’ the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with us through your prayers and financial support as we continue sending HIS Light and Truth to Deaf people everywhere. THANK YOU!”
