The Greatest News

by Gary Barrett ~

We share the greatest news in the world–news that Believers in Jesus Christ as Savior have already experienced, “I once was lost but now I’m found (saved).”

The Bible says it like this in 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NLT), “…you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light. Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.”

When Believers consider what God has done for us, we are compelled to let others know. At DMW that is what we’ve been doing for almost 25 years.  And Rhonda and I are thankful for each person who God has used to come along side of us–with their prayers and financial support–to make a difference–eternal difference–in thousands of Deaf people’s lives.  It’s exciting to be a part of what God is doing in reaching the lost.

As Rhonda and I look at the Deaf Harvest Field, we see an entire generation that need to receive God’s mercy, need to be called God’s people, and need to become God’s very own possession.  We are committed now more than ever with more opportunities before us.  I have some specific prayer requests to share with you:

* Increase in financial contributions.  Contributions have gone down over the past year.  The economy has had an impact.  In addition, Summer is here and finances tend to go down during the Summer.  Please join us in praying that God would raise up more people to support DMW.

* RV needed for travel ministry.  Through the years this ministry has always reached out to co-laborers in Deaf churches across the nation. I encourage them on the VP week after week.  Also, we have the Retreat Center for co-laborers and their wives to come for a time out of prayer, fellowship, and encouragement.  Again, due to the economy many pastors and their spouses have not been able to afford to come to the Retreat Center so we would like to go to them. So many pastors are isolated and feel lonely and abandoned at times. We would like to have an RV so we can travel to a specific area of the US and stay for one to three months at a time attending the difference churches, encouraging and praying with pastors and their spouses.  We want to spur them on and remind them that God cares for them, and we do too!  We want to reassure them with the word of God in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise (to return), as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”

Rhonda and I want to share with these precious co-workers in Deaf ministry, one on one, and encourage each one to finish the race…because souls are in the balance waiting for the message they have to preach, “I once was lost but now I’m found (saved).”

Please join us as we seek God and pray for His leading and guidance in this matter.  Our hearts are heavily burdened to reach out to these precious laborers in the Deaf harvest field.  God has called them to do an important work for Him and we want to go and remind them that He has not forgotten them and has a wonderful plan for their lives (Jeremiah 29:11).

Prayerfully consider joining with us as we continue sending HIS Light and Truth to Deaf people everywhere!
