Priorities…His? or Mine?

Priorities…His? or Mine?

by Rhonda Barrett ~

At this especially busy time–since selling our home, packing, and moving half way across the country–I find myself pondering my priorities and I find myself pondering His priorities.

These verses come to my mind from Matthew 28:27-30, Jesus’ words, “My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”  Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

As I read those scriptures, I am compelled to thank Jesus for revealing the Father to me!  I am eternally grateful and blessed beyond words.  In the verses above we have an amazing invitation from Jesus, “Come to me all of you…”  Dare we not come?  Dare we turn down this greatest of all invitations?

I have found there is enough time for me to be with Jesus…only if I make the time to be with my Lord.

I have found there is enough time for me to pray for my children…only if I make the time to be with my Lord Jesus.

One thing that consistently helps me to be faithful in my time with Jesus and intentional in my prayers for my children, and grandchildren, is the Precious in HIS Sight Scripture Prayer Calendar.  This month’s Calendar is to the left.  You can click on the picture and it enlarges in a separate window.  I print my Calendar and keep it with my Bible.  I encourage you to do the same. I also write on my Calendar to keep track of specific things that are going on that I want to be sure and remember to pray for.

Each day on the Calendar is a scripture reference that we can turn into a prayer.  For example on April 1 is 1 Kings 8:57-58, one of my favorite prayer scriptures, “Heavenly Father, May You–Lord our God–be with Rex, Lanie, Beaux, Estella, Luke, Angela, Bella, Elizabeth, Lily (and all my children to a thousand generations) as You have been with Gary and me; may You never leave my family or abandon my family. May You give my precious children and grandchildren the desire to please you in everything and to obey all the commands, decrees, and regulations that You have given our ancestors, in the Name above every name, Jesus.  AMEN!”

Have a great month, precious parent, and be encouraged by these words from James 5:16b–OUR PRAYERS ARE POWERFUL!
